I gotta hurry…episode six starts pretty soon…
Kurt Sutter had a rant on his blog or his facebook about how some people are responding to the show. My friend and fellow biker cartoonist, Thunder Baggett, made a remark about the show being too much like a soap opera. In fact, I took his words to make this strip. So there.
The show is actually a nice balance of badass biker action and soap opera sop, which is why it works for my wife and I. I love bikes, and she loves the drama. She’s only ever ridden on my bike (or anybody’s) one time, during the Hollister Rally in 2003. I’ve been loving Harley most of my adult life, starting with a ’73 Sportster in 1987. That bike didn’t last long before I traded it for a basket shovelhead, which has been with me ever since, coming up on 23 years of good times.
As for my wife, she enjoys the show in general, and gives us something to share that actually has to do with bikes.
Have you been watching the new season of Sons of Anarchy?
Yeah. It needs more badass biker action. It's too much like a soap opera.
I had no idea you were such an expert on the genre.
Huh. I've been married four times. What d'you think?
You must be getting good at it.
Jones thinks (A biker soap opera? Maybe I'll check it out after all...)
