Taking it easy this week, in some way. Hope to be back on the strip in a bigger way next week, or at least back on track.
This strip was one of the early ones. You can see a lot of changes have taken place since this one in terms of design, style, etc. There are some thing I liked about this look, but it wasn’t a workflow I enjoyed, and it took way too long as it went from a rough sketch to layer upon layer in Illustrator. The more I do comics the less I want to be on a computer.
Even more interesting is the old pen name I was using. Someone I work with suggested I needed a “cooler” sounding name if I was going to be a world famous biker cartoonists. It actually freed me artistically for a while, but early in the Jones strip I really wanted to use my actual name. Part of my thinking had something to do with putting enough pride in my work that my own name deserved to be on it.

After getting slapped in the face Porkinseven almost looks savage for a second there.
Yeah, he for sure has more edge here than in his later appearances. What these guys look like has a great deal to do with how they act.
As a coffee hound I agree with Jones there, Black regular is all you need. Great stuff
It gotta be ‘ard enuff ta cleen copper fer me. Mos old trukkstopz got da good stuff.
