Hiya….it’s Bobcat again,

Recently I had the opportunity work at a Women’s Biker Rally in San Jose Ca. and that is the topic of my blog today.

I was invited as a vendor to work the Women On Wheels 25 year anniversary ride-in.

Women On Wheels® was founded in California by an avid woman motorcyclist in 1982. Its purpose was, and still is, to unite all women motorcycle enthusiasts, whether they ride their own machine, are motorcycle passengers or enthusiasts, or future motorcyclists. WOW members are located throughout the United States, Canada, and several other countries. WOW has nearly 3000 members and is growing strong!

I was invited to this event by A.J.Fud. I sometimes participate in other events with A.J. and another group. I thought to myself, what could be better than hanging out with hundreds of women? I will let you decide for yourself. Ha-ha!

Note: I manage a leather and biker gear company (Bobcat Leathers). I sell biker patches and have a sewing person to sew them on at events. I sell misc. biker gear and leather products.

I set up Tuesday morning and from the very start felt the warmth and kinship inspired by these ladies in WOW. I think it is also worth mentioning I had no problem working while surrounded by Biker Ladies…….. What a class act!

I was really impressed when I saw the riding garments come in for sewing. These ladies really know how to ride and have put some serious miles in on two/three wheels. I noticed that there were ladies from the east coast, the Midwest, west coast and one lady rode in from Nova Scotia. I also noticed that many of them wore blaze orange or yellow vests with reflectors (made for bikers with clear pouch on front chest used for personal info card, blood type, emergency numbers etc). Wow…. I don’t see that much in the male biker world. They rode in on Harley’s and Honda’s, Yamaha’s and Can-Am Spyders, trikes and sport bikes.

I heard from several of the members that as a group these ladies promote a positive image of motorcycling, safety, comradely, motorcycle riding skills advancement, mutual support, education. It is also worth mentioning they are sanctioned by AMA.

I spent three days at the Hayes Mansion in San Jose Ca. http://www.dolce-hayes-mansion-hotel.com/ this is a historic building that was converted into a Hotel and Convention Center. Just being there made me feel good because of my past history and work at the Hayes Mansion. The location is very close the old Frontier Village site in San Jose. For those of us old enough we have fond memories of Frontier Village from our childhood. http://www.frontiervillage.net/pages/history.html

In a nutshell I really enjoyed working three days at the Wow event. If you are a lady biker or know a lady biker this is a group I will highly recommend. You can contact them at the website listed above.

I give Women On Wheels five Stars and the Bobcat seal of approval.

Stay tuned for my bridge run review in August.
