A few ironies that were unplanned here.
Jones is just being Jones when he’s working to inspire protest there. But this is the messiah many of the Jews sought when Jesus was born: a revolutionary who would help cast off the yolk of Roman rule. I think this is another one of those “dramatic ironies”, where the audience knows things the folks in the story are clueless to. Jones has no idea where he is or who that cute baby is.
Another interesting point I discovered in researching this series is that Jesus was likely a toddler when then wise men arrived, not a baby. For a few glimpses beyond the myth, dig this link.
Well that’s it for this little series. I had a lot of fun with this one. I’ll be doing re-runs from December 26 through January 8, daily, of a few of my favorite strips while I get ready for the conclusion of the story with Brenda. Will she get busted? Is Porkins Jones’ son? Will they all live happily ever after?
Thanks for reading. You readers mean the world to me.
