So many things I don’t see coming about this story.  There seem to be hints and suggestions in front of me, but pretty often something jumps up and gets me. Who knew Porkins had some backbone in the midst of potentially graduating from momma’s-boyhood?  Hey, I like that one–I may have to stash it away for a later strip.  Finally an original thought!

I’ve been working out at the gym five days a week since early November, and I feel damn good. I’ve decided to enter a 5k Mud Run that is coming up in May.  This thing has a bunch of obstacles, so your little 5k gets broken up a few times a mile by some crazy thing you have to do, like climb a pile of hay bales, climb a wall, and what have you.

So today I did 5k on the treadmill for the first time, which I’ll do again next week on the street a few times. I thought it would be cool to bring along my iPod, which is probably six years old or so, and has need of a new battery.  But the treadmill at the gym (new) has an iPod connection, so I scored some new earphones yesterday, a nice set of Sony over the ear types.  It didn’t take long to discover that the thing essentially turns my ear into a cheap set of points, emitting tiny audible (and feel-able) sparks a few times a minute.  I was afraid to cut the cheese lest it ignite the mixture, so I wound up unplugging the whole getup and leaving it off the rest of my run.

Which was fine without the toons. Or tunes. Whatever…
