Let’s be real clear here. Jones is not a hero. He’d love the ladies to think so for few, and he might milk it for a few minutes to get some free drinks, but he knows good and well who he is.
Sort of.
He knows he doesn’t measure up to true heroes. To celebrate a real hero, click the link in the sidebar and find out how to send a simple Christmas card to brighten a moment.
I did a little article yesterday on Tempered Steel, a project that aims to create some healing waves in our public and our returning soldiers. A bunch of readers mentioned the Wounded Warrior Project, which I think is something different than what I wrote about. Wounded Warriors got such a vigorous round of approval that I’ll have to look into it as well.
Be safe out there.

Rob, it matters not which charity you support for the Vets I for one am just proud you do so and help by spreading the word of their need.
Did I miss the post you said you where going to post Thursday on this?
Thanks
Thanks for the vote of support, Jack. Turns out the Red Cross club at the school where I teach is doing a card campaign as well.
If you click on Home in the menu, you’ll go to the main page. It may look the same, but it has more blog below. I also linked it in the comic blog, though I think my links don’t highlight too well.
It’s good to see people’s attitude has change since the Viet Nam era when all in the military were seen as the bad guys. Now everyone seems to want to support the veterans. Long overdue.
Well said.
I’ve had a few of my students get over to both combat zones and make it back in one piece. Mighty proud of them, and I always think of them when we do the Pledge of allegiance. The Pledge isn’t mandatory, but I let them know that their right not to stand for the Pledge has been hard won by a bunch of men and women, some of whom can no longer stand.
They are all good stuff, espescially when you’re on the recieving end. I wonder if there are going to be any kind of toy runs where I’ll be at down in Arizona for christmas.
I’m hoping to continue highlighting things related to our military heroes.
Let me know how your toy run search goes. A quick search shows there’s one in Tempe on December 10.
Man, I wish I was still riding…here in WY it’s a balmy 4 degrees & the beloved Ultra Classic is sleeping in the garage.
That is cold.
I’d still be riding if I could find the time to do the things the ol’ shovel needs. I’ve got a ride I’d like to do on January 1. We’ll see how that goes.
Rob, remember the old Greek writings, not all heros knew they were heros nor where they all “good” guys all the time. Jones did what was “right”
In spite of himself, but I think you may be onto something Tom. I’m a little rough on Jones’ character sometimes.
With Jones’ usual luck, I’m surprised he didn’t get charged with stealing the toy!
Re: Jones…true…he may be rough around the edges & he’s definately got his baggage (don’t we all) but I think basically Jones has made his mistakes in the past & he’s trying to do the right thing.
