I started my Bike a Day series on December 31, 2013. I got the idea after watching Tony Squindo knock out over a year’s worth of skull a day drawings. Which were really really terrific. At the same time as Squindo came into it pretty sharp, at some point there was some improvement, I think, in terms of the breadth of his expression, the ability to capture a character or celebrity in skull/skeleton form, with some really telling poses. Check out the series on Instagram.

My goal with Bike a Day is to stretch my ability to capture bikes in drawing, to expand the kinds of bikes, positions, riders, etc.  Initially it was to improve the comic strip, but at about 35 or 40 bike a day drawings I realized I wanted to paint some of these on canvas or wood, in formal style or a more low-brow technique.  So many choices…

Some of these can be purchased or commissioned for a better version in the medium of your choice. Use my contact page to reach out and we can figure out how to make it happen.
